Festival Borinqueño 2011

The Festival Borinqueño was a tremendous success!

Thank you again to all our sponsors, organizers and performers who made this past weekend a highlight in El Paso. Particularly, I must express my deepest appreciation to Tito and Rosa Elena Matos who brought the idea of celebrating Puerto Rican culture to reality.

I was honored to be part of the festival and loved meeting my amazing fellow Puerto Ricans in El Paso as well as the many who came to hear me read from the Time It Snowed In Puerto Rico. I was excited to see familiar book clubbers and new faces, including one reader who called home (Puerto Rico) on the spot to discover that our extended families know each other on the island. Small world!

Thank you all. Your support and enthusiasm made the event a delightful afternoon full of laughter and storytelling.

Here’s a terrific feature on our festival from the critically acclaimed La Bloga.

I look forward to participating in the next Festival Borinqueño and hope to see many of my new Boricuan friends throughout the year.

Yours truly, Sarah
